You Become What You Worship - Sachin Tendulkar - Bharat Ratna

Sachin wasn't God, (cricket was his god) he worshiped cricket soooooo much with all of he's got to the degree of becoming synonymous with what he worshiped. Now you can't separate the two, they are both side of the same coin) Somewhere in there hidden, there is a moral of story for each one of us.
'You become like what you worship' — N. T. Wright
Words To Live By For Brands - Content Marketing.

- Be the buyer. Everything starts with their challenges, needs, prejudices and concerns.
- Be authoritative. Stay in your Sweet Spot, where the things you understand better than anyone else intersect with the things your prospects really care about.
- Be strategic. One-off content islands don’t add up to a content strategy.
- Be prolific. Content Marketing is a marathon not a shot put.
- Be passionate. If you don’t care about this stuff, why should anybody else?
- Be tough on yourself. You’ll know if you’re being lazy. Don’t be lazy.

Idea that can change the world - Loon Project
5:57 AM Posted by Unknown
Google has unveil what it's calling its "latest moonshot" out of the Google X labs. It's called "Project Loon," and as reported last month, it involved sending up a huge number of giant balloons to beam down internet access to remote regions around the globe. Google says that balloons make sense for this purpose — they're cheap to deploy and can provide wireless coverage in areas that would otherwise be difficult to serve due to geography.
Like Google's driverless cars, Project Loon is very much an experiment that's in "very early days." Google says that it has already built the system, however, carrying balloon at 60,000 feet, providing internet speeds "similar to today's 3G networks or faster." Balloons drift, of course, so Google says it's using "complex algorithms and lots of computing power" to ensure that the balloons can move where they're needed using a combination of wind and solar power — potentially floating around the entire globe at stratospheric heights. Google says that the balloons communicate with "specialized antennas," that only work with Project Loon — so it's not using traditional cellular or Wi-Fi tech. On the ground, internet providers can take the signal and move it to the last mile to users.
At Wired, Steven Levy reports that the project started "a little under two years ago." Each balloon starts as an "envelope" that contains the polyethylene balloons and a 22-pound "payload" that contains all the computers and electronics.
There's already a pilot program in New Zealand with 50 testers — Google launched 30 balloons just this week. Google hopes to set up more experiments "over time."

Self-Made Billionaire Paths From Zero to Billionaire
10:31 PM Posted by Unknown
Today I came across this blog post with infographics.
How many of the world’s top 73 self-made billionaires were in a worse situation than you when they started? Let me go straight to the point, is it possible for most of us to go from zero to billionaire? Yes. This is how.
If you were to guess whether world’s top 100 richest people got their money from someone else or made money themselves – you would be right to guess that most of them made their own money. But you might think that even the self-made had advantages you don’t have.
From Zero to Billionaires, Almost?
After all, Mark Zuckerberg’s father is a dentist. Maybe it did not help him become a billionaire. After all a dentist couldn’t be much help with hacking. But you also might think that having a dentist dad makes it easier to not worry about what you are going to eat tomorrow.
There is no denying that Sergey Brin is a self-made man, but you might think that his father and grandfather, both mathematicians, had something to do with him studying math in the first place.
So if your father is a cab driver or if you have no father at all, is it still possible to become a billionaire? Apparently, it is. Researching the top 100 richest people in the world, all of whom are billionaires of course, we found 8 that were from absolute humble backgrounds. In fact even worse than the average. On top of that, they never got a college degree.
(Roman Abramovich, Russian billionaire and owner of football club Chelsea would be number 9 on the list, but he got a correspondence degree in law later in life. So technically he does have a degree. But otherwise he was poor, an orphan and qualified.)

Making A Diffrence - Teacher vs. CEO
3:10 AM Posted by Unknown
WHAT TEACHERS MAKE
The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life.
One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, “What’s a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?”
He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers: “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.”
To stress his point he said to another guest; “You’re a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?”
Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, “You want to know what I make? (She paused for a second, then began…)
“Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could.
I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor.
I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents can’t make them sit for 5 without an I Pod, Game Cube or movie rental.
You want to know what I make. ? (She paused again and looked at each and every person at the table.)
I make kids wonder.
I make them question.
I make them apologize and mean it.
I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions.
I teach them to write and then I make them write. Keyboarding isn’t everything.
I make them read, read, read.
I make them show all their work in math. They use their God given brain, not the man-made calculator.
I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to know in English while preserving their unique cultural identity.
I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe.
I make my students stand, placing their hand over their heart to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, One Nation Under God, because we live in the United States of America.
Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life.
(Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.)
“Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, with me knowing money isn’t everything, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention because they are ignorant… You want to know what I make?
I MAKE A DIFFERENCE. What do you make Mr. CEO?”
His jaw dropped and he was silent.
The First 20 Hours - How to Learn Anything: Josh Kaufman
4:01 PM Posted by Unknown
Forget the "10,000 hour rule"
what if it’s possible to learn any new skill in 20 hours or less?
In The First 20 Hours video, Josh Kaufman offers a systematic approach to rapid skill acquisition: how to learn any new skill as quickly as possible. His method shows you how to deconstruct complex skills, maximize productive practice, and remove common learning barriers. By completing just 20 hours of focused, deliberate practice you'll go from knowing absolutely nothing to performing noticeably well.1. What do you want to learn?
Just to reinforce the purpose of this post, that you can acquire and master skill quickly, I'll add what Tim Ferriss has said too below.
2. What do you want to start to learn today?
How to master any skill by deconstructing it - Tim Ferriss
2:08 AM Posted by Unknown
Let's say Tim wants to learn a martial art. He would first deconstruct the art down into the minimum learnable units, the building blocks that make up the overall discipline he wishes to learn. Next he will utilize the 80/20 rule to select which blocks make up the 20% of subject matter that will take him 80% of the way to competency. He must then sequence in which order to learn those blocks and finally setup stakes to create consequences, make sure he follows the program, and tests his growing facility. Perhaps in this case it would be entering a martial arts tournament.
Tim Ferriss points out that it is important to track your data so you can figure out points of failure and measure your progress. This broad overview of skill acquisition can apply to nearly any subject.
4 Ways To Master A New Skill
Deconstruction - work backward and identify the specific ingredients that are required to succeed.
Selection - hone this down to the difference makers – the critical 20%.
Sequencing - a series of two week tests to determine how to order the various 20% skills in the right order. This gives you several different data sets that you can compare.
Stakes - This is what keeps you motivated. In a career context, the stakes are built in. If you don’t stay ahead, your career can flatline. However, if you need motivation, the author suggests using sites like StickK – where you make your commitments public and incur financial consequences if you fail to meet them.

Reddit co-founder Aaron Swartz commits suicide in midst of controversial trial
11:26 AM Posted by Unknown
My friends are amazed by this; why is such a curious person so uncurious about the things so directly affecting his life?
.
Mashable says.
Aaron Swartz, online activist and founder of Infogami, a service later merged with Reddit, committed suicide in New York City on Jan. 11, the Tech reports.
The news was revealed to the Tech by Swartz's uncle Michael Wolf and confirmed by Swartz’s attorney, Elliot R. Peters. “The tragic and heartbreaking information you received is, regrettably, true,” said Peters.
Born in 1986, Swartz co-authored the first specification of RSS when he was 14. He also started Infogami, a service funded by Y Combinator that was later merged with social networking site Reddit.
Swartz also co-founded Demand Progress, an advocacy group that rallies people "to take action on the news that affects them — by contacting Congress and other leaders, funding pressure tactics, and spreading the word in their own communities."
In July 2011, Swartz was arrested for allegedly harvesting 4 million academic papers from the JSTOR online journal archive. He appeared in court in Sept. 2012, pleading not guilty.
A blog post from 2007 on Swartz's website reveals a possible cause for taking his own life: depression. In the post, Swartz describes his experiences with severe depression, as well as several other health issues, including migraines.
