How to master any skill by deconstructing it - Tim Ferriss
2:08 AM Posted by Unknown
Let's say Tim wants to learn a martial art. He would first deconstruct the art down into the minimum learnable units, the building blocks that make up the overall discipline he wishes to learn. Next he will utilize the 80/20 rule to select which blocks make up the 20% of subject matter that will take him 80% of the way to competency. He must then sequence in which order to learn those blocks and finally setup stakes to create consequences, make sure he follows the program, and tests his growing facility. Perhaps in this case it would be entering a martial arts tournament.
Tim Ferriss points out that it is important to track your data so you can figure out points of failure and measure your progress. This broad overview of skill acquisition can apply to nearly any subject.
4 Ways To Master A New Skill
Deconstruction - work backward and identify the specific ingredients that are required to succeed.
Selection - hone this down to the difference makers – the critical 20%.
Sequencing - a series of two week tests to determine how to order the various 20% skills in the right order. This gives you several different data sets that you can compare.
Stakes - This is what keeps you motivated. In a career context, the stakes are built in. If you don’t stay ahead, your career can flatline. However, if you need motivation, the author suggests using sites like StickK – where you make your commitments public and incur financial consequences if you fail to meet them.

Interesting Campaign Video - Reverse Psychology?

The Ogilvy's Anti-Smoking ad campaign in India is very interesting from concept and execution point of view. But when it comes to most commercially motivated anti
For example: The ad that says "Don't by this Jacket" made Patagonia 40% increase in sales. This must be a good example of reverse psychology in advertising campaign. Read the email that they sent on Cyber Monday
Lately there have been heavy anti-smoking campaign going on Indian media screens. I suspect it must be tobacco-industry-funded effort. When you are at home watching 007 the scroll comes to tell you how cigarate is injurious to health ( in principle there is nothingn wrong in that, but will it change anything?). While in cinema hall there is dedicated air time for it with few slide shows. This is a mafia game. The say out of sight is out of mind. So they bring the topic in audience mind with ulterior motive. Even the guy who didn't smoke for a week will have urge because of this subtle reminder. Since they can't advertise legally. They anti-advertise to drive up the sales numbers. Oh! Capitalism. Wicked.

ROI of Effective Dwarfs The ROI of Creative
9:49 AM Posted by Unknown

Creativity: I've been struggling with this for a long time in my entrepreneurial life. Almost always i try to be creative(or you could say ultra-creative) But in the process i sabotage myself from moving forward and executing things ASAP because i could not quench my creative thirst on projects.
Effective: knowing what i know now "creativity is over rated" so main focus (80%) will be devoted to effectiveness. I've learned the "ROI of effective" dwarfs the "ROI of creative".
I chose the latter. I rest my case. Yours Truly.
PS. At FlyingCocoon | Social Media Agency We chose ‘effective Work’ over ‘creative work’.
Effective - When the work explains what we do.
Creative - When we have to explain the work.

I saw the following KEEP CALM and CARRY ON sign on Pinterest. It didn't strike me at first, then i saw it again and again. Finally I started to pay attention and observe the simplicity of the design and the message. Later lots of internet memes came along with different variations. Keep calm and drink coffee, Keep calm and so on and so-forth.

Keep These Five Laws In Mind
11:15 PM Posted by Unknown
1. The Law of Value: Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.
2. The Law of Compensation: Your income is determined by how many people you serve, and how well you serve them.
3. The Law of Influence: Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other peoples’ interests first.
4. The Law of Authenticity: The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.
5. The Law of Reciprocity: The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.

The Risk I Took Was Calculated But Man Am Bad At Math
1:11 PM Posted by Unknown
Seth Godin posted two articles recently which reminds me of a quote Only those who risk going to far, find out how far they can go. By Walter Bishop
Excitement about goals is often diminished by our fear of failure
or the drudgery of work.
If you’re short on passion, it might be because your goals are too small or the fear is too big.
If you’re short on passion, it might be because your goals are too small or the fear is too big.
Do
a job for a long time and achieve what you set out to achieve, and suddenly,
the dream job becomes a trudge instead. The job hasn't changed--your dreams
have.
Mostly,
though, it's about our fear. Fear is the dream killer, the silent voice that
pushes us to lose our passion in a vain attempt to seek safety.
While
you can work hard to dream smaller dreams, I think it's better to embrace the
fear and find bigger goals instead.
Good luck with that, there aren't any.
If
you hesitate when leaping from rope to another, you're not going to last very
long.
And
this is at the heart of what makes innovation work in organizations, why
industries die, and how painful it is to try to maintain the status quo while
also participating in a revolution.
Gather
up as much speed as you can, find a path and let go. You can't get to the next
rope if you're still holding on to this one.
Creativity Takes Courage. If you never take a risk, you'll never see the rewards.
The Overlap Of Worry And Imagination.
3:40 AM Posted by Unknown
I asked this to Allen in our recent conversation; he said it profoundly: worrying lives you with worrying. But imagination lives you with joy.
And YOU? How do you draw the line that you are whether imagining or worrying at any given moment? Especially when you have performance anxiety causing big project in front of you. Of course i’ve faith in God, But i should also so work out my faith na? What do you think? I want to know your thoughts on this.
My Personality Test
12:35 AM Posted by Unknown
Here is a copy of
The personality test that you've just taken is
based on the Five Factor Model of personality. Personality psychologists
believe this is a pretty good description of the broad traits or general areas
that go to make up a person's core personality. Personality isn't set in stone,
however, so keep that in mind if you see anything you'd like to alter below.
Teenagers and young adults should take the below results with a bit of caution,
as their personalities are still under development (personality is generally
pretty well formed by one's mid 20's).
What do each of the 5 traits mean?
- Extraversion -
Energy, enthusiasm, socialable
- Agreeableness -
Altruism, helping others, affection, friendliness
- Conscientiousness
- Control, will, constraint, dependability
- Neuroticism -
Negative emotions, nervousness
- Openness to
Experience - Originality, culture, open-minded, intellect
Extraversion
This trait reflects a person's preference for
certain kinds of social situations, and how they like to behave in such
situations. People high in extraversion are energetic and seek out the company
of others. People low in extraversion -- what some might call introverts --
tend to be more quiet and reserved.
- You scored average for this trait, suggesting you lead a balanced life between extraversion and introversion.
Agreeableness
This trait reflects how we tend to interact
with others, especially in terms of our altrusim and friendliness. People who
score higher in agreeableness tend to be more trusting, friendly and
cooperative than others. People who score lower tend to be more aggressive and
less cooperative.
- You scored really high on this trait, suggesting you are a very friendly, cooperative and trusting person.
Conscientiousness
This trait reflects how organized and
persistent a person is in pursuing their goals. People who score high on this
trait tend to be more methodical, well-organized and dutiful than others.
People who score lower tend to be less careful, less focused and more likely to
be distracted from tasks.
- You scored really low on this trait, suggesting you're less focused and more easily distracted.
Neuroticism
This trait reflects the tendency for a person
to experience negative thoughts and feelings. People who score high on this
trait tend to be more prone to insecurity and emotional distress. People who
score lower tend to be more relaxed, less emotional and less prone to distress.
You scored average for this trait, suggesting
you've struck a balance between expressing negative emotions and being relaxed.
Openness to Experience
This trait reflects a person's
open-mindedness, and interest in culture and art. People who score high on this
trait tend to be imaginative, creative, and to seek out cultural and
educational experiences. People who score lower on this trait tend to be more
down-to-earth, less interested in art and more practical in nature.
- You scored really high on this trait, suggesting you love art and try to keep open-minded.
Recommendations
- You have 2 significant personality traits that we've identified.
- If the traits are hurting your life, you may consider seeking out further assistance for them, by consulting a psychologist or other mental health professional.
- Please remember, this is not an official diagnostic test. It is only a general quiz to give you a broad understanding of common personality factors.

Stuck In A Traffic Jam Of Life?
8:28 AM Posted by Unknown
While I was stuck at Jubelin Hills Check post. The most hoffifying unusual traffic jam you could see. For some reason i remembered poetry by Gabby i've watched in 2009. Gabrielle was diagnosed with Stage Four Cancer shortly before this video was filmed. She has valuable advice for us who are stuck in traffic of jam of life, to face our irrational fears.
You think you have a problem???? All the things you said you'd do but never did. “What are you waiting for?” “Why aren’t you being everything you can be right now? Please, take it from a girl who’s already half angel. Dooooo notttttt waitttttttt.”
Poets.. remember. This is the story that never ends. When one of us leaves, another walks through the door. The pages turn, the sun keeps rising. All you can do in the meanwhile.. is to speak for yourself. Raise your voice high, tell your story, join hands against the dark and sing our souls to the sky. Know the best in me comes from the best in you, that as you tell your story, you will be telling mine, and our lives will be linked together forever, and everyone who hears you will become a part of the change we make.
So when you hear that I have died..
just ….live.
